Titusville, Spacecraft, Waterfront & History

The small town of Titusville, population 47,000, is the last stop for many wanting to get a glimpse of rockets and other spacecraft departing from the Kennedy Space Center. It is situated on the St. Johns river in Brevard county just wast of the barrier island of Merritt Island, which fronts the Atlantic Ocean.

I took a morning walk in sleepy downtown Titusville. While not unpleasant, it is tiny and felt like a mid-20th century movie set to me.

I took some photographs of the buildings. The waterfront behind them was pleasant, but no particularly photogenic.

Just for fun, I’m including a distance shot of the launchpad, taken from Merritt Island later in the day.
