Silver Springs State Park: an Oldie but a Goodie

The Silver River, so named for its appearance when being hit by the sun at a certain time a day, is a beautiful and rare site. The river exists because of a a series of natural springs that emit extremely pure, clear water.

When looked down on directly, the water appears turqouise blue or emerald green. Long a destination for travellers, the area is incredibly well preserved in a fairly natural state, despite being the site of glass bottom boat tours for nearly 100 years.

Also, if you are a film or tv watcher, you’ve undoubtedly seen someting set in this beautiful place. From silent films to large budget James Bond flicks, you’ll be amazed at what’s been done here.

It’s a must visit if you’re ever in Marion County/Ocala Florida.
